Charity Football

Solent Sports FC proudly supports a number of charitable causes some are chosen for a personal reason others are to make a difference in our communities.

The Charity teams are made up from players from across our recreational nights, some venues form their own teams others play with a mix of players who just want to come together for a game.

Since we started playing charity games we’ve supported various charities and good causes including-The Rainbow Trust, All Call Signs, SANDS, CALM, Berewood Youth Football Club, Tommy Foundation, Andys Man Club, Great Ormond Street Hospital and Havant and East Hants Mind.

Since we formed in 2018 we’ve raised over £10000 for good causes.

History of Solent Sports FC

2018 Our first ever game was against Sands United Solent, We played under the name of DadsvDads Solent winning the game with a penalty in the dying minutes.

The teams are still good friends today and often play charity games against each other. Because we were just starting out we had to borrow a kit from Shield FC.

2018 First Inter club match- Solent Cup

Bringing two teams of men together from the cities of Portsmouth and Southampton and playing the friendliest game of football ever. Southampton won on the day but this was the game that changed the direction of Solent Sports after founder Steve Fletcher realised the power that football could have to make a difference.

Season 20-21

Follands Solent Sports Vets: When we found out that the Folland vets team was at risk of folding we joined forces and supported them to create a new team. This team was formed 24 hours before the season started but had a great season finishing 2nd in the league and winning promotion.

The following season Folland Sports team managed to recruit a number of ex players and the decision was made to continue without Solent Sports support, we still remain friends and wish them the best of luck.

Season 21-22

In 2021 we formed our first league team under our own name, affiliated to Hampshire FA and Solent Sports FC became an affiliated football club!

The SSFC Portsmouth Vets team plays in the Meon Valley Sunday League.

This team is made up from players from our Portsmouth and Havant recreational night.

2021 Solent Sports FC Ladies team- Find your Feet Festival.

The ladies recreational teams were invited to take part in a Find Your Feet Festival run by Hampshire FA, this was our first taste of womens football and we’ve not looked back.
